I love making clocks, and I freakin' love this clock in particular. It's just a gorgeous alligator-embossed leather box...That's also a clock. Form and function. What's not to love?! Read on for tutorial.
Materials: 8"x8"x1" canvas, approx 12" x 12" piece of leather, craft or utility knife, staple gun, clock kit
This Etsy shop has a great selection of small cuts of leather in all different colors and textures. If you want an alligator-embossed leather like I've used here, try this one.

Begin by centering the canvas on the piece of leather. Use a pen or chalk pencil to mark each of the four corners of the canvas.
Use a craft or utility knife to cut a diagonal line from each mark to the closest corner.
Cut another line from each mark straight out to one of the closest edges to remove a triangle of fabric from each corner.
Wrap the leather around the canvas, and staple into place. Wrap the pointed corners around the edges of the canvas first, and then the straight edges second.
On the front, find the center, and use a craft or utility knife to cut a small hole about 1/2" long through the leather and canvas. You might have to trim a little more away as you insert the clock kit.
Finish it off by installing the clock kit according to the directions. If the shaft for the clock kit is still a little long, add a washer or two.
Do you love this as much as I do? And so easy, right?
simple, stylish, and genius. my goodness.
