Last week, I introduced you to the Trade & Made challenge and gave you a peek at the supplies. This week, I'm showing you what I came up with using only supplies provided.
Our cat Pete has a mean swat, and with only so many things to get into in our little condo, most flowers last about 2 minutes before he's found a way to utterly destroy them or generally make some kind of mess. Not only is this week's creation -- a simple but beautiful wall vase -- an understated and unique way to display a sweet little arrangement, it's also a perfect scheme to keep flowers out of the reach of vicious predators like 16 pound house cats.
I bet you knew I'd use the wooden supplies, didn't you? What can I say? I'm a predictable sucker for some craft wood. Read on for the full step-by-step and loads more photos, and be sure to check out the Trade & Made website to see how the other amazing bloggers used their supplies and to learn more about the Trade & Made sponsors -- including Michaels, DecoArt, Clear & Simple Stamps, Specialty Bottle, and For the Makers!

SUPPLIES & TOOLS: 1 small round wooden plaque, 3 wooden dowels, 3 wooden beads, 1 small glass vial, glue, craft saw
Use a small craft saw to cut two of the wooden dowels to approximately 5" in length. Cut the third to 6".
Use the glue to adhere a wooden bead to the end of each of the three dowels. Since my craft saw doesn't leave the smoothest of edges, I used this as an opportunity to hide those jagged edges inside the beads.
Glue the dowels to the back of the plaque.
Glue the glass vial to the front of the plaque.
To hang the vase, either drill a small hole in the back or affix a picture hanger. Hang on your wall, create a little mini arrangement from simple store-bought flowers, and enjoy!
Disclosure: All the craft supplies you see above were provided to me free o' charge. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting the sponsors that help keep Fabric Paper Glue fresh.
